TIPS & TRICKS

***************************************************************************************************

General: Take it easy.  Do some warm-up and stretching exercises before you start out.  Don't try to audition for an extreme sports film on the first run.  Give your muscles the chance to get warm and they will take you far.

Quick Tip:
Have the legs turn more than the upper body.
Why: To promote movement down the hill, and maintain balance.
When: Throughout the turn.
Sensation Indicator: You should feel the core of the body wind, and unwind.
Visual indicator: The feet turn more than the upper body.
Drill: Have someone hold one of your skis while you are lifting it up (this should be done on the flats) try to move the tip over to the other ski tip.  Your partner should add some resistance.  Do this several times.    Then switch feet.  Notice the sensations.  While skiing try to regain the sensations that you had on the flats when you were working with your partner.  Hint-you must be touching both boot tongues with both shins in order to do this.
